The food here is fantastic. I came to LA for a work event and someone recommended I stop here for dinner. By far some of the freshest fish and most flavorful I have had. Don't get me wrong there are tons of amazing sushi places in LA, but the service and food was over the top. Only thing I didn't enjoy was the valet parking, try and find street parking if you can. The sashimi with the Jalapeno on top was my favorite part of the meal.
Amazing food, good service! Love their spicy tuna with popcorn shrimp. Always get good quality everytime we visit!
Alway my first choice for sushi since the West Hollywood location burned down. I am a fan of many of the sashimi specialties, and the spicy tuna on crispy rice is excellent - very simple and consistantly good. The nigiri is equally good, but I have found that the quality and cut depend on the chef. My gluten free adult daughters are always happy their alergy needs are accomodated (although there is now an extra charge for GF), and they are kid friendly so they bring their very young children. It can get loud, but not horrible and the friendliness of the staff is hit or miss. It still remains my favorite everyday sushi place at a reasonable price.
Went here for the first time, by mistake. I was meant to meet my friend at the Encino branch, also on Ventura Blvd but several miles east. This apparently is the original and it's just as good as the one in Encino but with much better parking, so that's a plus. It's simply decorated and the servers are friendly, quick and efficient. Sushi is fresh and traditional - the specialty rolls are also straightforward and not too complicated. Their lava cake dessert was lovely too.
I'm a big fan of this place. It's a little crowded and hard to get into sometimes. But the sushi is always great. Also, their delivery service, though a limited menu, rivals (is better than) sugarfish. If you're looking for a slightly nicer night out. Maybe a date night. I'd recommend this place. It's priced sorta in between lower end sushi and higher end stuff like Asanebo. But quality is there! I love the crispy brussel and the crispy spicy tuna! Must haves!
Back again after a few years. Got my usuals. Food as always was stellar. Only new item I got was the banana fritters - pretty good. Despite all the new restaurants this remains one of my favorites. Service was a tad bit spotty this time.
The sushi is amazing and a great value for the quality. They have an eclectic mix of sushi, sashimi, appetizers and rolls. The quality of the fish is outstanding and they add just enough subtle flavors to the rolls and sushi to enhance the dish but not overpower the fish. This is sushi done right. Service was excellent.
The location is small so there wasn't alot of space for parking. I went ahead and used the valet service they had. The inside of the restaurant was small and felt a bit cramped. (If you are claustrophobic, be careful) of course there were spaces to move around but it will be difficult for others. The food was decent but oof pricey. My favorite was the bluefin tuna Trio. For the price of the dish, I understand since it tasted pretty fresh and the presentation was visible. I tried sea urchin for the first time here and I guess I can't say too much about it other than it being very very strong in ocean flavor. The service was great! I was well taken care of by our amazing waiter.
Initially, I walked in a bit disgruntled about paying $10 for valet parking in a lot that was mostly empty. But once we entered, we were greeted warmly by the staff and seated right away at the bar. We ordered a variety of dishes to share and we were impressed by the quality of food and overall value of the meal. We got the corn tempura, shrimp and veggie tempura, cucumber sunomono, honey hand roll, yellowtail collar, assortment of nigiri, and tamago to end the meal. Everything was tasty and pretty authentic, and even reminded us of our meals at sushi gen. We'll definitely be back and recommend to others.
